For an employer-specific work permit, the Canadian employer normally obtains a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) and sends you a job offer. You then apply online to IRCC, give biometrics and complete any medical exam. Skilled workers may also apply for permanent residence through Express Entry.
Government costs include the work permit processing fee and biometrics fee set by IRCC, plus medicals, police certificates and travel. Employers — not workers — must pay the LMIA fee. Never pay for an LMIA or job offer.
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) requires registration for citizens leaving for foreign employment, and only licensed agencies may recruit. Verify your recruiter with the SLBFE.
A job offer or offer letter does not extend your visa by itself. You still need a genuine employer, a real role and a successful application through the official government process.
